*GM VACANCY*
Jay Amado has decided to step down as GM of the Seattle Sea Dogs. If you are interested in changing teams, send me a message. For now the Sea Dogs are under control of the league office (using the CPU recommended depth chart and game plan).
*NEW FEATURE*
I’ve added real-time Power Rankings to the web site. The rankings use the Elo Rating system, which is used in many different sports including basketball. The Power Rankings page (MAIN MENU > LEAGUE > POWER RANKINGS) has links to three articles explaining the system in detail if you are curious.
In summary though, each team begins with the league average rating of 1500 points.
The ratings depend only on the box score results, modified by factors like the opponent’s Elo rating, home court advantage, and margin of victory.
Teams always gain Elo points after winning games and lose ground after losing them. They gain more points for upset wins and for winning by wider margins.
The system is zero-sum. If the winner gains 8 rating points, then the loser is deducted the same amount.
