The Las Vegas Sting after a four game win streak, have moved their selves into first place in the American West Division.
Wins over the Invaders, Tritons, Swing, and Blaze has secured the first place spot. In the four game run. Carter put up a total of 94 points, leading the team each night in scoring. Ellis Raper stepped up big scoring 16, 15, 14 and10 points. “The team is gelling right now, that’s what I can say for sure. Night after night everybody is doing the things that need to be done” said Coach Castro. “Even the bench is doing the right things. Nobody is just coasting.”
The Sting in their last 10 games have gone 7-3, losing by just a combined 17 points in those games. “Our defense has had a few issues but all in all I feel really good with what we are doing right now. My one concern is our FG %. I would like that to get above .500, but for now we are ok. Our free throws are an up and down issue. Some nights we are doing great and then other nights we are under .40%.
One big bright spot has been rookie James Araiza; he is really stepping up and making plays. The other night against the Blaze he had 20 points. 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. With that kind of work he definitely has earned a starting spot in the line up. Against the Swing he had 8 assists. He has been giving us no less than 5 rebounds a night. James has also racked up 10 steals in 4 games. Along with the previous stats he also has 21 assists in the last four games.
James was a great pick in the draft. He has really started to show us a lot. Its kinda crazy how some teams passed him up in the draft. But that’s their loss and our gain. Lewis Edmond is another rookie who has played hard and big for us. He has had a couple games in double digit scoring and really worked hard at being part of the solution. I consider him a big part of us winning.
The Sting now hit the road for a three game run. Their first game is against the 13-10 Muscle. The Muscle are coming off of a 2 game win streak after dropping four in a row. The next game on the road is against the Chaos. The Chaos sit second in the AmWest division right behind the Sting. This will be a big game for the Sting. The Chaos have been up and down not losing more than two games in a row. Their last game was a big 120-102 win over the Inferno. The last of the three road games is against the Labradors. Another division game, the Labradors sit 5th in the AmWest. The Labs are 1-3 in their last 4 games with 2 of the 3 games against division opponents. The Sting have their work cut out for them. Stay tuned and best of luck to the Sting.
